Show: Animal Collective
Venue: The Wiltern
Drinks: Three Stella Artois (it was that or Budweiser - those fuckers).
Song I Most Wanted to Hear: "The Purple Bottle" and "Bluish" were absent from the previous Animal Collective concert and so I was really hoping they would show up this time. No dice. I was also really pulling for Panda Bear to break into "Take Pills." Again, epic fail.
Musical Disappointments: First hour was actually kind of boring and meandering. Also, while I quite like Grouper, she doesn't really work well as a live show and especially not as an amp up for the high energy Animal Collective show to follow.
Superficial/General Impression on Singer's Appearance: I still have no idea what Avey Tare looks like. Grouper seemed hot and depressed, a very sexy combination.
Merch Table: A cheesy concert poster and all the albums on CD and Vinyl. Also, lame T-shirts. I didn't buy anything.
Run-in's With the Bands: Nope. The downfall of bigger venues.
Best Onstage Moment, Non-Musical: They ditched the cool background lights of last time and now were projecting strange avant garde video onto a giant white ball above the band.
Best Onstage Chatter: I don't think they said anything during the show.
Did the Bass Player Look Bored?: Geologist was just doing whatever the hell he does. He didn't look bored.
Overall Scientific Rating of Show (out of ten): 6.7
